The Cub Scout ‘Camp Out Badge’ has been amended to prepare cub scouts for camping and especially Cuboree 2008.
The requirements for the Camp Out Badge are:
- During a holiday period, pack a bag for four days/nights duration. The Cub Scout is to use only that gear over the four days and will also wash and dry their own crockery and cutlery during that period. The Cub Scout is to be aware of the need for good hygiene, storing and packing clothes away correctly and wearing appropriate clothing for activities.
- Camp out at home either in the backyard or on the floor in a sleeping bag and learn to use their torch to get to the bathroom etc. in the dark.
- Attend two sleep-overs.
- Attend a Pack Holiday under canvas of two nights duration where Cub Scouts are involved in cooking a meal.
- The Cub Scout is to demonstrate that they can erect dismantle and pack up a tent working as a
team with other cub scouts. - The Cub Scout is to convey to the Cub Scout Leader that he/she is aware of the need for everyone to carry out good hygiene ethics, eat healthy food, drink lots of water and report any illnesses or injuries, whilst on pack holidays/camps.
1 and 2 are to be signed off by the parent/guardian. The parent/guardian will then be aware that Cub Scouts need to be prepared for overnight camps and especially Cuborees.
The badge may be worn on the uniform with their specialist badges which are worn on the right sleeve.
The challenge for all Pack Leaders over the next 12 months is encourage all cub scouts attending Cuboree 5 in 2008 to be proudly wearing their Camp Out Badge.

telephone 5728 1060 with the cost ($1.00 per badge) and a stamped addressed return envelope.
