1. Cuboree 2008 Theme Song
Seems to be a fair bit of interest in this question. I guess people may need the lyrics to practice? Oh well, it looks like We’re All In This Together …
2. European Wasps!
I have just been told by our Scout Leaders that did Straddy at Gilwell that they had a major Wasp problem – with one scout being bitten 5 times. — Brenda E.
They had some great wasp traps at Bunnings on the weekend. I’ll get some. We will need to locate them away from the tents as wasps release a pheromone to attract the colony when they get in trouble. I’ll also take a few takeaway containers to remove wasps from tents. I better also top up on the stingose for use in the camp site.
3. Load ‘em up, ship ‘em out!
“As we have 30 Cubs going from Diamond Creek we will use the Diamond Creek hall as our staging area for collecting the gear on Friday 28th March 5:30pm – 7:00pm. We’ll need to have a chat to work out transport, trailers, tow vehicles, semi-trailers,… We can transport stretchers (+ sleeping bags?) + personal gear“
I won’t be able to make it at 5:00pm but will get there as soon as possible. Do we all have enough transport available for the Saturday? Is there any extra space available for items such as trestles and chairs?
4. Set-up and Pull down
We have yet to organise a time to travel to the site on the Saturday for set-up (or the Saturday for pull down). Can I propose the following timetable?
SETUP: from 11:00am Saturday 29th March 2008 @ Gilwell
Meet at Diamond Ck hall at 9:30am for convoy if required
Setup will probably be 3 hours worth of work
PULL DOWN: from 11:00am Saturday 5th April 2008 @ Gilwell
Meet at Diamond Ck hall at 9:30am for convoy if required
Pulldown will probably be 2 hours worth of work at Gilwell and an hour or so back at Diamond Ck
5. Roger has got the Cuboree leader hats!
I will be collecting the hats tomorrow. There are around 50. The cost was around $1100. They ended up coming to $22 each, a little more than expected, though as they have been individually done this is still a bargain considering. I will take them with me on Saturday so those there then can collect, otherwise Monday. (…) Please advise that I would like payment by all concerned upon collection as I have already paid for these. — Roger (2008-Mar-26)
If you ordered a Cuboree leader’s baseball cap from Roger can you see him on Saturday or Monday with your $22.
6. Camp site lanterns
I have 2 battery lanterns (rechargeable twin lamp camp lantern), with another 2 being picked up this evening to provide light for the camp site. These will provided a reasonable amount of light but will need recharging during the day. Glen is providing a solar recharging rig to allow for the recharging process.
